How many of you have personas (costumes) without any weapons?

How many of your personas have weapons?

These are questions that are usually ponder by many who enter the world of Steampunk without any idea of a persona in mind.   So I toss them to the group to get YOUR opinion on the subject and please explain why you chose to carry or not to carry.

I personally have no weapons on my persona but I do carry potions on my belt and a spell book with tons of spells in it.   But my persona is also a Sorceress so having no visible weapons just sort of fit.

So much of what steampunk has to offer is a sense of adventure. Most of the personas I've seen lead lives of excitement that are the sorts of things we day dream about while sitting at a desk or behind the counter on a slow day at work or school. Not all excitement requires danger but when it comes to adrenaline maximized fun, there is certainly something to be said for life risking endeavors and with that, one would be stupid not to bring along a weapon or "kill the danger at the last moment before it kills me" sort of thing.

I was originally planning on Arabella being a simple tavern waitress/bar maid but she turned out to be an airship pirate and hey, you can't threaten innocent merchants for their goods without something threatening and god forbid you pick on someone who will hit back, you'll want a gun or blade to make things easier for the sake or piracy. Air patrol… they threaten you with weapons to get you behind bars, what will you do? Run at them in the hopes that they have bad aim or are too slow? So you see, my persona calls for a weapon.

Other personas that i have though (that I don't use on WTS or any forum really) don't use or require weapons. One character that I've thought up is one of the wealthiest ladies in civil war union america and she does not require a weapon. She has no use for one and if danger ever came her way, she had the wits to know what to do if there's nothing within arm reach to swing at someone's head.

I have my weapons and gadgets of all various natures. The help me in adventuring and work. We get in to some crazy messes..

Not everyone has a need for weapons. They are fun though...

Wilhelm does not really carry any overt weapons. On the rare occasion he may carry a simple pistol but only if he feels there is a good chance someone is going to attack him any second. Other than that he just carries his canes. Admittedly his canes vary from simple walking sticks that can be used as a bludgeon to the most extreme ones which may include heavy fencing blades laced with poisons, noxious mists from the grip, or even acid spray from the end. (I'm actually working with a friend to make a cane that can make one that does spray.)

I will say that Wilhelm does not consider any of those weapons. Merely self defense devices for a man who is not as mobile as others.

Lachlan , as an airpirate has to be engaged in all manner on uncivil activities and weapons are a definite plus. Lachlan carries a Tesla Co Tesla pistol for heavy damage and for more natural encounters an array of revolvers in various calibers. Assorted blades and he recently purchased a new "Semi auto" pistol, although he hasn't had the chance to use it yet.

My main persona (Valarian) has plenty of weapons at all times.  Of course, being hunted by heaven's hit squad kind of necessitates being armed at all times.

My other persona, Gregory (see Lilliana's RP), rarely caries weapons, being a monk.  However, he is well versed in multiple martial arts and has strong psychic abilities, so it really depends on what you consider a weapon.

My persona, as of yet, has no weapons...though I've pondered adding some.  She's a naturalist but also a bit of an adventurer, with a penchant for blowing things up, so I've thought of "weapons" along the line of a stick of dynamite or the sort. I still have never gotten that far in costuming though. I'd call my outfits "neo-Victorian" rather than really Steampunk because I've never gotten around to collecting the accoutrements that I've wanted to make it true Steampunk.
