The Rubber Band

      First patented in 1845, this handy little tool is still with us, and usually still made from natural rubber.  What can be more steampunk than using one of these to hold one's leather bound notebook closed, and keeping the pencil with it?   Heh.  Yeah, I do just that.  Our friends at Wikipedia have some interesting facts.
