We had landed in the upper Galilee, near the city of Tsfat and I shivered in the rainy mountainous air. We were waiting for Chanter and Dominique to come back from scoping the area for a place to stay. I stood rocking back and forth when I felt a tap on my shoulder.
“Are you cold?” Bentley asked, walking up next to me. Have you guys met Bentley? Ben’s quite the character. When working, it’s as if he has no morals but when there’s nothing to do, he’s actually one of the cuddliest, sweetest, fun people I’ve ever met. It’s weird. He’s tall, thin, and has a smooth face with narrow eyes and shoulder length brown hair.
“Of course I am,” I told him. “It’s freezing out here.” Ben’s face showed a bright grin before he rang out with a giant yelp and grabbed my hand dragging me about as he skipped around the deck. Keep in mind that this guy is one year older than me. I began skipping with him. “What the fuck are we doing?” I called.
“Did you know that females are more powerful than males in the hierarchy of a certain species of monkey?” He called back.
“Ben?” I called again, “What’s the point of this?”
“Did you know, that when – when the queen bee dies, there’s- there’s a certain smell that comes from her corpse so that every bee within ten to twenty miles of her will know that their queen is dead?”
“Ben what is this?” We kept skipping in circles and for some reason, I couldn’t stop laughing.
“Bells, did you know that the word “park” comes from the word “peak” because parks used to only be built on the tops of hills?”
“Is that true?” I asked as we came to a stop. He wrapped his arms around me and then backed up from the hug.
“It’s all bullshit.” He told me.
“Why did we just frolic around the deck and spew out bullshit facts you pulled from your ass?” I asked.
“Are you still cold and cranky?”
“No”
“Exactly”
