OK, for some reason, I was considering entering a post about how (in the United States) The European Grand Tour evolved into See America due to the onset of WWI. The Grand Tour was something that only the wealthy could indulge in. But the war sent thousands or "regular, everyday Americans" to Europe who would otherwise never have gone there. This reminded me of the song "How Ya Gonna Keep 'Em Down on the Farm (After They've Seen Paree?)". When I looked it up, I found this image:
Now just look at the vehicle! What the heck is it? It has a radiator, and a crank, so I suppose it's powered by an internal combustion engine, but the wheels look like they came straight from a steam tractor. And what the heck is that behind it? To me, it resembles some type of farm equipment. The best I can come up with is that this a completely whimsical vehicle, inspired by a combination of real devices, and the subject of the song. But I find it to be so unlike anything I've ever seen that it's just really interesting.
