This seems to be the first major SteamPunk festival that is going ahead with planning.  There is a little bit of everything steamy in this free street festival.  I suspect that rebreathers and other face masks will be very in fashion this year.

Despite the cancellation there might be a costumed meetup at the Hannibal Museum Saturday.  See their FB page for current information.

We tried. We had been working on different layouts, formats, whatever contortions necessary to present the festival in a way that was still identifiable as the Big River Steampunk Festival this Labor Day weekend. Every solution, though, created new problems; every answer, more questions. For a myriad of health, safety, and legal issues only present in a pandemic, we have had to add ourselves to the extensive list of conventions/festivals/faires who have had to postpone or reschedule their plans. The virus wins...this round.
However, we are cramming everything into our time machine and teleporting the festival to Labor Day weekend in 2021! Since the theme was all about time travel and Victorians' view of time as a concept, it is all too fitting. In the meantime, we will begin back-and-forth 'conversations' about travel between the worlds on our 'Friends of' page by mid-August. Also, our loyal merchants will be highlighted (think of it as a virtual market, where online - inspired by Schrodinger's Cat theory - one can be wearing and not wearing a mask at the same time. Whew - dodged that bullet!)
We had been planning on expanding into a couple of new corners of the retro-futurist universe this time, a path we will still pursue in addition to the old favorites. New games! More machinery! We thank you for your support of the Big River Steampunk Festival, and we promise the delay will be worth the wait. Just keep yourselves healthy, so we can meet again soon.

From the organizers (6/23/20):

"

Quick update on this year's Big River Steampunk Festival (Sept 4-7):

We are still planning on holding the festival, with several adjustments to make the weekend as safe as possible. Once we are able to confirm all of the entertainment, we will be posting here and on the website (target date - July 6th.) Thank you for your patience, and we will see you soon!"

Ok we shall tune in later in the month. Until then we plan to attend. Hotel is set.

When I asked this was the response:

"We're planning the Festival now, should have more details in June. Please keep checking the BRSF Facebook page for updates. Thank you!"

After the SP Cruise was cancelled we are planning to attend.  It is a long trip for us from Alaska but we have a family farm/scout camp almost an hour south of Hannibal.  https://www.facebook.com/Skyway-All-Event-Venue-100470084634454 ;

My family accidentally reinherited my grandparents' farm which had been donated to Rotary (who built cabins, lodge, amphitheater, ranges, etc....)  I try to visit at least once each year to help with the farm work any way.  BRSF is just an extra perk but there is a possibility that some of the SP Cruisers will also show up (we are all itching to get out to an event).

Will they even have it? So far two events we planned to attend have cancelled. The plandemic is working for whomever the nefarious group that is behind this debauchery.
