I went  there in the 70s  and they still had the bridge remains and cemetery.

The new show doesn't click for me.

It doesn't look like the Sleepy Hollow I've been to, but then I was only at the Cemetery, Old Dutch Church and Irvings home (Tarrytown), Sunnyside.  Went in autumn and it was lovely.

There is supposed to be the remains of the 'covered bridge' from the story but we couldn't find it.  Did see Irving's grave.  The cemetery is on several levels.  His home was warm and cozy, set along the river.  Legend has it that the part about the Hessian soldier having his head blown off by a cannon ball (during the American Revolution) and buried in an unmarked grave in the cemetery supposedly has some truth to it.  Who knows.  I guess many soldiers were buried where they died, in unmarked graves.

Sort of off topic but not, at the Red Bank Battlefield in National Park, NJ, there were many Hessian soldiers buried on the battlefield and along the river there.  There is a monument engraved with a quote alleged to have been uttered by the dying Count Von Donop, the Hessian commander, that he died 'the victim of my own ambition and the avarice of my prince.'  The site is purportedly haunted, but I was only there during the day and everyone knows ghosts only come out at night.  Personally, I think they make their presence known whenever they feel like it. :)

Has anyone watched 'Sleepy Hollow', the new tv series?  The pilot was interesting, but some of the dialogue was lacking.  It's like they're going for a 'Supernatural (the series) meets the Da Vinci Code, or 'Foucault's Pendulum' :p or something.  Maybe the Illuminatus.
