     Two months out of Peru on the ironclad steamer, Huascar II, and only the short stopover in Melbourne for re-supply, Cape Town with all it's squalid waterfront dives, local street urchins and early day drunkards bawling about who gets first shot unloading the ships coming into dock and the unmistakable odor of the holding pens for both the cattle and the 'indentured' bound for the cocoa plantations in the West Indies...with all this noisome congress, it will still be nice to get solid ground underfoot once again. Even for a short time...
