My daughter came back to our shop from the local seamstress with this scrap of lace she'd scavenged from the oddments box, when she was about four. I thought at the time, "I could do something with this." It went into my oddment box for another eight years! Then I sewed the beads (from a broken necklace) onto it and put tape on the ends to stop it fraying. Today, a year later, I added hooks and eyes and the key. There you have it.

Makes sense to me. In the CR&A universe, much of the human blood consumed by vampires in the United States comes from volunteers. The members of CR&A have reason to believe there is a secret agreement between the two main vampire groups in the country and the U.S. government, a provision of which states that as long as they do not prey on innocent people, the government will maintain the official position that vampires do not exist. Of course, some of us know better than to believe the government.
P. in answer to your mirror query. I might as well come out now.
I'ma vampire that's why there's no reflection! The key's for my personal blood bank. I have people who volunteer theirs, but don't think I'm evil, I also supply the local hospital in times of need.
If you don't believe me, that's your choice, but let me just tell you this: the photo on my profile isn't my grandmother as a debutante, but me. And the photo from the Empire site was also me, but not a feux sepia one; it's a real family portrait from 1852 or 3, I don't quite remember.
Lovely piece of work! I don't bother trying to make things because it's a guaranteed disaster, but I really enjoy seeing what others can put together. Thanks for sharing.
Lovely.
Interesting. A long time ago, I soldered an old key to a safety pin and used it as a lapel pin. Keys always make me wonder what they unlock. The mirror in the photo is neat, too. Nothing reflected in it but the opposite wall. I don't know why that intrigues me, but it does.
