Tim stopped and looked at the room, back to the captain and then back at the room, propping his hat higher up on his brow and scratching the back of his head.
"Well, then....I'm glad I packed light..."
He walked in the small room and took off his hat and sat on the small cot for a moment, testing the space. Taking off his bots and leaning back on the wall, he let out a sigh and crossed his fingers on the back of his head.
"I hope there is another place for me to work...I can almost just stretch out in here. Using this as a work space too....that would be something. I suppose I better head up, don't want to be late twice today."
He brushed some of the remaining dust off of his hat and coat from the morning's trot through White Chapel and placed the hat back on his head before putting on his boots. Letting out a yawn and a brief stretch, he stood and paused for a moment before taking a step out of the room and heading topside to meet the others.
“Thanks,” She said as Felix walked off before choosing her rack and locker. She scanned the room a bit without putting anything down. Jabber climbed down her side and hopped into the locker. “Maybe you can sleep there,” she responded before the furry devil grunted and climbed back onto her shoulder. “Sometimes I wish you were a parrot. Then this would be the proper image,” She laughed as she walked back up, gazing down at the threatening cuff, wrapped around her wrist, “Watch there be no poison at all. Not that I’d like to find out, really,”
The ship started to lurch and creak as the wind picked up the sails. Jack stood at the Helm as they glided through the fog.
Felix sat on the cross beam for the mast. "Alone, all alone."
He watched the door to the ladderwell waiting for his new crew to show their worth.
Phoebe was coiling the mooring lines when a tiny bird landed on the railing next to her, she removed the message from its leg. She put another scroll in place of the one she just took. "fly swiftly little bird."
Wandering through the corridors of the ship, Tim caught him self on the wall as the ship lurched forward with the faint sound of the wind catching the sails.
"No going back now.." He said as kneeled and pilled a cigar out of the case in his boot and lit it. "How the hell do I get top side.." Peaking around corridors and finally seeing the latter well. "Hah, there we go" speaking through the cigar in his mouth."
He walked to the ladder and climbed up to the deck, the morning sun beaming down on his face as he reached the surface.
Upon gaining footing on the deck, Tim took a few puffs of his cigar as he made sure all of his gear was hidden and in place and noticed the Captain perched up by the mast and walked over.
"An official good morning to ya, Cap" He said looking up as he tipped his hat and placed his hands in his pockets. "Where should I get started?"
With a push, daylight streamed through causing Arabella to squint as she shielded her eyes from the sun. Once her sight was restored she turned her head around, keeping balance on the metal ladder below her. The others were already topside.
“I found a side passage and couldn’t resist the coaxing of my curiosity,” she called, climbing out of the hatch and pulling herself up. She walked to where Tim was standing; she followed his gaze up the mast to see Captain Bellicose. "sky captains in thought," She said in a low mocking voice and looked to Tim, "seriously though, never something to interrupt,"
He turned to Ara with a smile as she walked up behind him, "Oh, I may have already done so, but you never know. Quite the roost he has up there, in his own little world. I really don't mind a slow start to the day. I could use some slowing down, hell of a morning for it, that's for damn sure. So, blue eyes, how are you?"
"You two!" He yelled as he pointed at Tim and Ara, "head towards the bow of the ship, get ready to furl the sails. We are far enough away to pull them in." He slid down a rope to the helm, "Jack, Phoebe, make sure they do it right and prepare to furl the other sails," he took hold of the helm. Jack and Phoebe began to lower the sails and tie them down.
The sky captain bellowed the orders from his roost. Tim stood for a moment, a perplexed look on his face, "Furl the sails..." he said rubbing the back of his head, "Now that's the last thing I expected when hearing airship..." Turning to the woman he assumed was Phoepe, after meeting the giant earlier in the day, he called casually over as he approached.
"So, this furling of the sailed, it's been a good decade. I'm more partial to the envelope style airshi....wait a second", he said pausing as he got close enough to notice detail. "You can't be serious...really....you're absolutely gorgeous....May I?" Extending his hand to Phoebe
She smiled at his compliment, "You had better get to pulling those sails in." She stated before walking past him. "You can flatter me later, but I'd rather get under way right now." She took hold of the rope opposite of Jack.
Elsewhere Thadeus was finally waking up. All around him was nothing but dim lighting and broken machine parts.
How did it come to this? All I have done is agree that automatons are jsut machines and shouldnt have rights. The damn things are just tools.
A door opened and the room filled with light. He shielded his eyes, "Whats going on?" his voice cracking. He felt a sharp pain on the back of his head as everything went black.
She quickened her steps to the bow of the ship and gripped tightly onto the rope with both hands. She almost began to pull before realizing that the other side was not being taken. She tossed her head back and called,
"Wasn't there supposed to be some yankee scientist furling the sails?" Ara waited for a moment, looking up as if the sky would talk back.
When she saw Jack in position at the other end, she nodded. "He must not realize that he can tinker through her boiler room later if she lets him," she called over with a mischievous grin that turned quickly into a frown when she realized that piratic humor might not be the norm on a ship like this. She looked down at the deck.
Tim looked at Phoebe as she passed with his hands on the back of his head...."Damn...that is some fine workmanship....I'd love to chat with the designer" At that moment, Ara's yelling brought him back to earth.
"Oh...right.... sails...to furl..." As he turned to see Jack in position. "Ahh, yes..that's right... I can take it over from here, if you'd like, big guy"
Taking the reigns from Jack, he called over to Ara "Alright, blue eyes...you just going to stand around all day or are you going to help me with this" he said with a smirk.
Rolling her eyes, Ara began to pull on the rope. "Please excuse me if I didn't appear to be ready." she said sarcastically under her breath. she pulled quickly but still slow enough to keep the sails steady. The Widow is probably already in Singapore by now.,she thought, Ok, maybe that's exaggerating a little but I certainly won't make it in time. Captain Bennet will have my head on a frame. No...she shouldn't have gone without me. Ara shook her head and secured the rope once the sails had been furled.
