Cain Marko: Part 2 - Only Thoughts...

Sherri.  My poor girl.  I can’t fathom to think what those bloody bastards are doing to her.  I have to find her, no matter the cost.  If only I could do more for her, but I don’t even know where to look.  The damn blast obscured my vision from seeing the symbol on the hull of their ship.  I don’t even know how long I’ve been in here.
The door at end of the room opens, and a man walks in.  "Cain?  Is everything alright?"  It’s my ship’s mechanic, the plump bastard.  He sits in the chair across the room and lifts his left leg up, crossing it over his right.  Artie.  Hell of a man.  “I was wondering when you were going to wake up Cain.  You’ve been unconscious for 5 days.  The whole time you were mumbling in your sleep, something about your daughter, and the Stag.  Speaking of the ship, that’s what took off your arm.  Large piece of the hull landed on you and crushed four of your ribs, a lung, a kidney, and as you can tell, all of your left arm.  I got you back to our allies’ ship and into a medical bay.  I stitched you up pretty good, but getting the damn shrapnel out took forever.”  He leans forward slowly and looks me dead in the eye.  “I made up that prosthetic in an hour or so.  It’s kind of spotty, so be careful with it.  I’m making plans for a new one and I should have it done in a couple of days.  So, please be patient.  I’ll make you whole again.”  He smiles at me and asks me, “How you feeling, Cain?  Any pain?”
"I'm fine Artie.  Just tender on me left side.  I don’t think the nerves are used to the wiring yet."  He nods to me and gives his quirk of a smile.
"Miss your lass Cain?"  He frowned slightly.  I stared at him and frowned as well.  I never understood why a Jap like him wanted to be called Artie...I don't even know his real name.  He spoke pretty good English too.  Well, good English compared to my Aussie accent.
Damn it brain, get back on track.  Sherri.  That's all I need to care about right now.  “Of course I miss my daughter, you bloody fool.  The bast-“  BOOM!
The blasts from the battle can still be heard from the medical bay.  We must still be pretty close, but it sounds like they are getting softer.  We must be getting farther from the front line.  "Artie, who's ship are we on?"
He smiled suddenly.  "We be on the Hornet!  Sister of the Wasp!  The ship of the Captain's wife!"
